The aim of this path was to learn how to attack web applications. To successfully attack and exploit web applications, I needed to understand how they work. The first section (Web Fundamentals) gave me all the pre-requisite knowledge on this.
The second section (Security Tools) focuses on learning how to use Industry Standard tools to interact with my targets.
The third section (Vulnerabilities) covers various vulnerabilities found in web applications today. This section will go over root causes of these vulnerabilities and gave me hands on experience on exploiting them.
After I completed this path, I am now able to:
- understand how web applications work
- utilize industry standard tools when attacking web applications
- explain and exploit common web vulnerabilities
- apply this knowledge to other targets such as a professional web applications security assessment
Prerequisites
I needed a basic understanding of how web applications work to complete this. I was successful in completing the Pre-Security, as listed in my certifications list.
Cyber Security is a huge topic, and it can be challenging to know where to start. This path gave me a hands-on introduction to different areas within cyber, including:

- Offensive Security; hacking my first application
- Defensive Security; defending against a live cyber attack
- Exploring security topics in the industry
Completing this learning path gave me the knowledge to kick start my cyber journey.
This learning path taught me the pre-requisite technical knowledge to get started in cyber security. To attack or defend any technology, I have to first learn how this technology works.
